Signs on both Yeshiva Meah Shearim and Yeshiva Bochurim,
the new building that have
both Esther Feigel Leibowitz's and The Zion Dov Ber Torah Fund's names on them need repair.
On my trip to Jerusalem in 2000 I photographed
the signs but when I returned to New York my camera was stolen. I lost my
last photos of the sign on the Yeshiva Bochurim, which showed the missing
letters. On the main Yeshiva, Yeshiva Meah Shearim, the sign is very
much darkened and hard to read.
I would like to see these signs repaired and cleaned.
If you would like to donate money to the Yeshiva Meah Shearim, and particularly in memory of Esther Feigel Leibowitz (my grandmother) and her work, in which she ran her organization for over 60 years and raised money for the Yeshiva Meah Shearim in Meah Shearim, Jerusalem, please e-mail me - you can click on the letterbox here below - and let me know. As first priority, I would like to see the signs on both buildings fixed, out of respect to her memory.
I got some email a few years ago and I apologize that I didn't respond more thoroughly. I lost some email due to a hard disk crash. For now, it might be better to donate directly to Yeshiva Meah Shearim in honor of Esther Leibowitz, asking them first of all to fix the signs on the buildings to honor her memory. I will be in touch with them on how I can be a conduit for donations too.
Plaque on wall of Yeshiva Meah Shearim, honoring Esther Feigel Leibowitz.
Photo taken in 2000, this plaque is one of many on the wall of the Yeshiva, in Hebrew, both acknowledging and honoring her contributions to Yeshiva Meah Shearim.
